  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes. In a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with chicken seasoning, ensuring each piece is evenly coated. Thread the seasoned chicken onto skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
  2. Air Fry the Skewers: Place the chicken skewers in the air fryer basket in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to cook in batches. For my 6 quart air fryer, I can fit 8 of the 6-inch skewers in at a time. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the Garlic Parmesan Sauce: Open the air fryer, flip the chicken skewers, and brush generously with the garlic parmesan sauce. Return to the air fryer and cook for an additional 2 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
  4. Serve: Once cooked, remove the chicken skewers from the air fryer and brush with any remaining sauce. Serve immediately. You can also add fresh grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.

If you prefer to cook the chicken in the oven, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange the chicken skewers on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, flip the skewers, brush with garlic parmesan sauce, and return to the oven for 5 minutes. Take them out of the oven, brush with more sauce, and serve immediately.

Creative Ways to Serve Your Chicken Skewers

The portability of these skewers makes them perfect for serving as a party appetizer. They’re also a wonderful addition to your weekly dinner rotation.

Consider placing the skewers over a Caesar salad, served over rice pilaf, served with pasta, or served alongside a bowl of creamy mashed potatoes.

You can also include the skewers in a wrap or sandwich, with some fries or potato chips for a quick and easy lunch. These skewers are great for meal prepping and can be eaten cold or reheated for just 2 minutes in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, or chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chicken seasoning, click link for the recipe
  • ½ cup garlic parmesan sauce, click link for the recipe

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken into 1 inch pieces. Toss them with the olive oil, then the chicken seasoning. Skewer them tightly together onto skewers that will fit in your air fryer basket. I skewered 4 pieces of chicken on 16 of these 6 inch bamboo skewers.
  • Place the skewers in a single layer in an air fryer basket and cook at 400°F for 10 minutes. You might have to do this in two batches. I used this 6 quart air fryer and I could fit 8 skewers in at a time.
  • Open the air fryer, flip the chicken skewers, and brush the garlic parmesan sauce on the chicken. Air fry again at 400°F for 2 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken from the air fryer, brush with the remaining sauce and serve immediately. Optionally garnish with fresh chopped parsley and grated parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • These skewers can be served as a meal or appetizer. This recipe makes between 14-16 skewers with 4 pieces of chicken per skewer. If serving them as a meal, plan for 3-4 skewers per person. If serving them as an appetizer at a party with several other apps, plan for 1-2 skewers per person.
  • You can make my homemade garlic parmesan sauce linked in the ingredient list above, or purchase Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic Sauce in a bottle at most major grocery stores, or online.
  • You can also make my homemade chicken seasoning linked above, or grab a bottle of pre-made chicken or poultry seasoning at the grocery store.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can reheat the skewers in the air fryer at 400°F for 2 minutes.
